PAGASA reports the HABAGAT is dumping light to moderate and occasionally heavy rains across multiple provinces in Northern Luzon on August 16, 2026. After enjoying a few hours of sunshine yesterday, La Union is getting drenched again today. PAGASA issued Rainfall Advisory No. 62 at 8:00 AM, warning disaster management councils and the public of possible flash floods, mudslides, rockslides, and landslides along mountain slopes over the next two to three hours.

In La Union, widespread rains have already begun affecting central and southern localities, with conditions forecast to persist for up to three hours. Areas experiencing ongoing rainfall include:

  • Agoo, Aringay, Bauang, Burgos, and Caba
  • Naguilian, Pugo, Tubao, and the City of San Fernando

The weather bureau also warned that monsoon rains will expand into several other La Union municipalities within two to three hours, covering Bacnotan, Bagulin, Balaoan, Bangar, Luna, Rosario, San Gabriel, San Juan, Santol, Santo Tomas, and Sudipen. Nearby provinces, including Pangasinan, Ilocos Sur, and Benguet, face similar weather disturbances.

Regional forecasts show moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest, creating moderate coastal sea conditions. Prevailing daily temperatures are projected to hover between 25°C and 30°C.

Local disaster risk reduction and management offices are advised to maintain active monitoring ahead of the next weather advisory update.
