Habagat Still Brings Scattered Rains Across Luzon
La Union and nearby Ilocos provinces will get some sunshine but do expect rains in the afternoon and evening.

PAGASA reports that the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) is bringing light to moderate and occasionally heavy rains across multiple provinces in Northern Luzon on the morning of Saturday, August 15, 2026. The weather bureau issued Rainfall Advisory No. 54 at 8:00 AM, warning that widespread precipitation will persist and trigger localized flooding and slope failures over the succeeding two to three hours. Parts of La Union may experience some sunshine early in the day, but expect showers and rain in the afternoon and evening.
La Union’s coastal areas face increased moisture and overcast skies as southwest winds blow at moderate to strong speeds, generating moderate sea conditions along the provincial coastline. Surrounding provinces across Region 1 and the Cordilleras are experiencing similar weather disruptions due to the active monsoon system.
PAGASA identified several specific areas expected to experience or continue experiencing significant rainfall:
- La Union, Pangasinan, Benguet, and Apayao
- Specific municipalities across Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, and Abra
- Portions of Batanes (Itbayat), Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, and Nueva Vizcaya
The rest of Luzon and the Visayas will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms, while localized thunderstorms will persist over Mindanao. Marine operators and small sea vessels operating along the western seaboard of Northern Luzon are advised to take necessary precautions against rough sea conditions.
