La Union May Face Some Fair Weather Today
But the Habagat May Still Bring Scattered Rains Across Northern Luzon. TS Saudel poses no threat.

PAGASA reports that the Habagat, will still bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms across Northern Luzon today August 21, 2026. Moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest will still create moderate to rough coastal conditions in the region.
La Union may get some sunshine and clear skies throughout most of the day, due to the absence of clouds in the western portion of Luzon. Although PAGASA warns, the HABAGAT is expected to bring persistent damp conditions throughout the day. Localized forecasts for the province outline the following conditions:
- Temperature range: 26°C to 32°C
- Wind movement: Moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest
- Sea conditions: Moderate to rough coastal waters
- Associated risks: Landslides, mudslides, rockslides, and flash floods along mountain slopes
PAGASA continues to track Severe Tropical Storm Saudel (2618) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility. At 3:00 AM, the storm was located 2,735 kilometers east of southeastern Luzon, packing maximum sustained winds of 95 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 115 kilometers per hour while moving north-northwestward at 25 kilometers per hour.
Although La Union is not under a specific localized rainfall warning, the provincial disaster risk reduction and management offices are actively monitoring the weather.
Rainfall Advisory No. 95, issued at 5:00 AM, warns of light to heavy rains in neighboring areas. The affected localities include Calayan in Cagayan, Ilocos Norte, and multiple towns in Abra and Ilocos Sur, such as Tagudin, Cervantes, and Vigan City.
