PAGASA reported on August 20, 2026, that the Southwest Monsoon is bringing cloudy skies, rainshowers, and thunderstorms across Northern Luzon. This weather system is causing moderate to strong winds and rough coastal conditions throughout the region. Local disaster risk offices have been advised to monitor the situation closely to prevent casualties from potential flash floods and landslides.

In La Union, temperatures are expected to range between 25°C and 31°C under cloudy skies. Moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest will generate moderate to rough coastal waters, posing risks for local fisherfolk and beachgoers along the province’s coastline.

Residents living near mountain slopes or low-lying areas are urged to take precautionary measures against:

  • Mudslides
  • Flash floods

According to the five-day outlook, these monsoon conditions will persist until Monday, August 24, 2026, with daytime temperatures peaking at 33°C by the weekend.
