PAGASA issues rainfall warnings across all 20 La Union towns due to Habagat.

The Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) is bringing widespread light to heavy rainfall across Northern Luzon on the morning of August 18, 2026, PAGASA says.

A Low Pressure Area (LPA) was also spotted and estimated to be at 1,115 km East of Northern Luzon at 3:00 AM.

Rainfall Advisory No. 71 was issued at 5:00 AM today, warning that all 20 municipalities of La Union face ongoing or incoming rain within two to three hours.

The Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) is already causing active rainfall in several northern municipalities. PAGASA reported that wet weather conditions are currently being experienced in:

  • Balaoan
  • Bangar
  • Luna
  • San Gabriel
  • Santol
  • Sudipen

Light to moderate, and at times heavy, rain is forecasted to affect the following areas:

  • City of San Fernando, San Juan, Bauang, Bacnotan, Agoo, and Aringay
  • Bagulin, Burgos, Naguilian, Rosario, Caba, Tubao, Pugo, and Santo Tomas

Local disaster risk reduction and management offices have been advised to continuously monitor the weather conditions. Residents living near mountain slopes are urged to take precautionary measures against potential hazards, including landslides, mudslides, rockslides, and flash floods.
