La Union and Ilocos continue to face scattered rains with risks of flash floods and landslides.

PAGASA reports, the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) continues to bring light to moderate with at times heavy rainfall across several provinces in Northern Luzon on Thursday morning, August 13, 2026.

In La Union and neighboring provinces across the Ilocos Region, monsoon rains are expected to produce moderate to heavy precipitation. Local communities in coastal and lowland municipalities, including San Fernando City, San Juan, and Bauang, face risks of flash floods and landslides during intense rain spells.

Monsoon rains are impacting towns throughout La Union:

  • Currently experiencing rainfall: Agoo, Bacnotan, Pugo, Rosario, San Gabriel, Santo Tomas, Santol, Sudipen, and Tubao.
  • Expecting rainfall within 2 to 3 hours: Aringay, Bagulin, Balaoan, Bangar, Bauang, Burgos, Caba, Luna, Naguilian, San Juan, and the City of San Fernando.

Meanwhile, weather monitors are tracking Tropical Storm Nangka (international name 2617), located 2,560 kilometers east-northeast of extreme Northern Luzon, well outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility. Moving northeast at 20 km/h, the storm carries maximum sustained winds of 65 km/h near the center and gusts up to 80 km/h, posing no direct threat to the country.

Along the northern and western seaboards of Luzon, mariners and coastal communities should prepare for moderate to rough seas, with wave heights projected between 2.1 and 2.8 meters driven by moderate to strong southwest winds.
