La Union and Region 1 Face Rain and Flood Risks From Batangas Low Pressure Area

The country’s weather bureau PAGASA, reports a low pressure area located off the coastal waters of Nasugbu, Batangas, is bringing cloudy skies, scattered rains, and thunderstorms across Metro Manila, the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, and CALABARZON on July 30, 2026.
In La Union and nearby provinces across the Ilocos Region, residents are cautioned about moderate to at times heavy rainfall. These conditions bring potential hazards of flash floods and landslides, especially in low-lying coastal areas and sloping rural terrain in towns such as San Fernando, Bauang, and San Juan.
The weather bureau also noted that easterlies continue to affect other parts of Northern Luzon, including the Cagayan Valley region, generating similar rain showers.
Key forecast details for Luzon include:
- Wind Speed and Direction: Light to moderate winds blowing from the East to Southeast.
- Coastal Water Conditions: Slight to moderate sea levels, with wave heights measuring between 0.6 to 1.5 meters.
- Primary Risk: Flash floods or landslides triggered by moderate to heavy rainfall during severe thunderstorms.
