Low Pressure Area Brings Rains Across Parts of Luzon

According to PAGASA, a Low Pressure Area (LPA) was located over the coastal waters of Rapu-Rapu, Albay as of 3:00 AM on July 29, 2026, bringing cloudy skies and scattered rains across major sections of Luzon.

The state weather bureau reported that while the LPA affects Central and Southern Luzon, warm winds blowing from the east, known as easterlies, are directly shaping weather patterns across Northern Luzon.

For La Union, the rest of the Ilocos Region, the Cordillera Administrative Region, and parts of Cagayan Valley, expected weather conditions include:

• Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with scattered, short-duration rainshowers or localized thunderstorms caused by easterlies.
• Light to moderate winds coming from the east to southeast across the terrain.
• Slight to moderate coastal sea conditions, with wave heights estimated between 0.6 and 1.8 meters.

PAGASA warned that severe thunderstorms could trigger sudden flash floods or landslides in low-lying and mountainous communities throughout La Union and neighboring provinces. Local residents and coastal travelers are advised to monitor weather updates and take necessary precautionary measures.

Elsewhere in Luzon, widespread rains and thunderstorms will persist over Metro Manila, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, and the Bicol Region due to the LPA.
