Southwest Monsoon Brings Scattered Rains Across Western Luzon

According to PAGASA, the Southwest Monsoon is expected to bring cloudy skies, scattered rainshowers, and thunderstorms across the western section of Luzon on July 28, 2026. The state weather bureau issued the daily weather forecast at 4:00 AM, detailing prevailing atmospheric conditions across the archipelago.

Typhoon Kiyapo has now totally left the PAR and no longer affects the country. But the ever-present Southwest Monsoon will cause wet weather.

The primary affected areas in Northern Luzon include the Ilocos Region, Zambales, and Bataan. In La Union and neighboring provinces, moderate to at times heavy rainfall may trigger flash floods or landslides, particularly in low-lying communities and mountainous terrain.

Coastal and maritime conditions along the western seaboard of Luzon will feature moderate winds blowing from the southwest to southeast. Coastal waters along coastal towns in La Union are expected to remain moderate, with wave heights measuring between 1.2 to 2.1 meters.

Weather conditions in other regions of the country include:

• Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and Davao Region: Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms caused by the Easterlies, with risks of flash floods and landslides.
• Metro Manila, Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, and MIMAROPA: Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers due to the Southwest Monsoon.
• Rest of the Country: Localized thunderstorms bringing isolated rainshowers and potential brief flash floods during severe storms.

PAGASA advises local disaster risk reduction and management councils to stay updated on further weather bulletins and monitor local flood warnings.
