Mostly Clear But Habagat to Bring Rain and Thunderstorms Across Northern Luzon
La Union and neighboring Ilocos provinces enjoy clear skies but must be wary of isolated rains and thunderstorms.

According to PAGASA in its daily weather forecast issued at 4:00 AM on July 18, 2026, the Southwest Monsoon is still currently affecting the western section of Northern Luzon, bringing cloudy skies and isolated thunderstorms to the region.
This weather system directly impacts the province of La Union and other parts of the Ilocos Region. Local disaster offices in towns such as San Fernando, San Juan, and Bauang are advised to monitor conditions, as severe thunderstorms may trigger sudden flash floods or landslides.
The weather bureau listed the following areas as the most affected by the monsoon:
- Ilocos Region (including La Union)
- Abra and Apayao
- Batanes and the Babuyan Islands
- Zambales
Coastal waters along the western seaboard of Northern Luzon will remain slight to moderate, with wave heights ranging from 0.6 to 1.8 meters. PAGASA reports that winds across the country will blow from the south to southwest at light to moderate speeds.
Residents in low-lying and mountainous areas are urged to remain vigilant against sudden weather changes. Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers due to localized thunderstorms.
