Typhoon Inday, Monsoon Bring Rains Across Philippines

According to PAGASA, Typhoon Inday and the southwest monsoon will bring rain and strong winds to parts of the Philippines on July 11, 2026, with each weather system causing different conditions across the country. At 3 a.m., Inday was 490 kilometers northeast of Itbayat, Batanes, moving northwest at 20 kilometers per hour, while the southwest monsoon affected Central and Southern Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao.

La Union can expect occasional rain caused by the southwest monsoon. PAGASA said moderate to heavy rain may trigger flash floods or landslides in affected areas.

The same forecast covers Metro Manila, MIMAROPA, Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, Pangasinan, Benguet, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, and Batangas.

PAGASA reported the following conditions:

• Batanes: Stormy weather from Inday, with moderate to heavy rain and gale-force winds. Flash floods or landslides are possible.
• Cagayan: Rain with gusty winds from Inday, with possible flooding or landslides and a minimal to minor wind threat.
• Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Isabela, and the rest of the Cordillera: Cloudy skies with scattered rain and thunderstorms caused by Inday.
• Other parts of Luzon and the Visayas: Scattered rain and thunderstorms caused by the southwest monsoon.

Inday has weakened further since yesterday. It now has maximum sustained winds of 140 kilometers per hour near its center and gusts reaching 170 kilometers per hour.

For the rest of Luzon, including La Union, PAGASA forecast moderate to strong southwest winds. Coastal waters may be moderate to rough, with waves ranging from 1.5 to 3.4 meters.

PAGASA said severe thunderstorms may also cause localized flash floods or landslides in other affected areas.
