Cloudy skies with showers, thunderstorms forecast in Northern Luzon

PAGASA said, cloudy skies with rainshowers and thunderstorms are forecast for Northern Luzon, including the Ilocos region and La Union, starting at 05:00 AM on 28 June 2026, driven by the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat). The agency notes light to moderate winds shifting from the southwest to the south and moderate coastal conditions.

Forecast data indicate daytime temperatures from 26°C to 32°C with the same wind pattern. Forecasters expect continued cloudiness with intermittent rainshowers and thunderstorms across forecast areas, including the La Union corridor, through the morning and into the afternoon.

The extended outlook through the weekend shows highs near 33°C and nighttime lows around 25–26°C, with a continued chance of rain showers in the region. Winds are expected to remain light to moderate, mainly from the southwest to southeast, sustaining unsettled conditions.

Rainfall updates include Rainfall Warning No. 1 in effect for forecast areas, while Thunderstorm Advisory No. 9 has been terminated. A Thunderstorm Watch was issued for Ilocos Norte earlier, with advisories to monitor for possible storms developing within the forecast window. Residents along mountainous areas should prepare for possible landslides, mudslides, rockslides, and flash floods; DRRM offices are advised to monitor conditions and watch for the next warning.

In La Union and nearby provinces, the public and local disaster offices are urged to stay alert for updates and take precautionary measures as conditions evolve.
