Northern Luzon Continues to Experience Habagat

Nine La Union towns face rain and potential landslide risks as Habagat persists

The Southwest Monsoon is expected to bring light to moderate rains across several provinces in Northern Luzon, PAGASA said today.

Tropical Storm Krovanh remains outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility. Located 1,155 kilometers east northeast of extreme Northern Luzon, the storm is moving eastward away from the country with maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour.

PAGASA issued Rainfall Advisory No. 53 at 5:00 AM, advising local disaster risk reduction offices and the public to monitor the weather system as it affects multiple municipalities.

In La Union, the advisory highlights nine southern and central municipalities expected to experience these rains within the next two to three hours. Localized downpours may trigger hazards along mountain slopes and low-lying areas.

The affected towns in La Union include:

  • Agoo
  • Santo Tomas
  • Rosario
  • Tubao
  • Aringay
  • Caba
  • Bauang
  • Naguilian
  • Pugo

Residents living near mountain slopes in these areas are advised to take precautionary measures against potential landslides, mudslides, rockslides, and flash floods. Beyond La Union, the monsoon rains are also affecting parts of Pangasinan, Aurora, Nueva Vizcaya, Cagayan, and Batanes.

Residents are advised to continuously monitor weather updates.
