Isolated Rainshowers and Thunderstorms Forecast Across Northern Luzon
La Union residents advised to remain alert for sudden weather changes despite terminated warnings

According to PAGASA in its 5:00 AM regional forecast on July 17, 2026, Northern Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to localized weather systems. The state weather bureau reported that temperatures in the region will range from 24°C to 33°C, accompanied by light to moderate winds blowing from the southwest.
In La Union, coastal waters are expected to remain slight to moderate, making conditions generally manageable for local maritime activities. However, weather observers warned that sudden, severe thunderstorms can still trigger localized hazards despite the absence of a major weather system.
Although PAGASA officially terminated Thunderstorm Advisory No. 10 (FINAL) at 5:03 AM, weather officials urged continued vigilance. Residents living near the mountain slopes of La Union are advised to take precautionary measures against sudden land movements and water rises.
Local disaster risk reduction offices are monitoring the following potential hazards during sudden downpours:
- Flash floods in low-lying urban and agricultural areas
- Landslides and mudslides along unstable mountain slopes
- Rockslides along hilly road networks
The southwest wind flow will continue to influence the coastal conditions of the province. PAGASA advises the public to monitor daily weather updates and coordinate with local government units for safety advisories.
