Monsoon Rains Sweeping Northern Luzon
PAGASA warns La Union and nearby provinces of potential flash floods and landslides

According to PAGASA, a regional weather advisory was issued at 5:00 AM on July 14, 2026, warning of light to moderate rains across several provinces in Northern Luzon due to the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat). The state weather bureau advised local disaster risk reduction offices and the public to monitor conditions as the rains are expected to persist for several hours.
The advisory directly affects La Union, alongside neighboring provinces such as Pangasinan, Ilocos Sur, Ilocos Norte, and Abra. Local government units and residents in La Union are urged to take precautionary measures, particularly those living near mountain slopes and low-lying areas.
The state weather bureau highlighted specific hazards that residents must prepare for:
- Flash floods in low-lying areas
- Landslides, mudslides, and rockslides along mountain slopes
- Moderate to rough coastal waters with southwest to south winds reaching moderate to strong speeds
