Bugallon Public Information Officer Karen Grace Ilano reported on Thursday that 126 families, or 486 individuals, remain in evacuation centers. She noted that 19 barangays experienced flooding, which submerged low-lying residential areas and agricultural lands.

“The municipality of Bugallon has been affected by the impact of the recent typhoons Luis and Maymay and the effects of the enhanced southwest monsoon. Fourteen flood-prone barangays and five more barangays were submerged in water, particularly those backyards in low-lying areas, farmlands, and other agricultural lands,” Ilano said.

Estimates from the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office show that 80 percent of the town’s population, or 25,135 families, were affected by the weather disturbances. While infrastructure sustained minimal damage, the dike in Barangay Angarian was damaged, and a fallen tree destroyed a house in Barangay Cayanga. Agriculture and fisheries sustained over PHP 2.8 million in losses, according to initial municipal assessments.

Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office emergency head Pia Flores stated that flash floods hit the town on Monday, with heavy rains continuing through Tuesday night. Local and national agencies, including the Department of Social Welfare and Development, are currently distributing food packs and relief aid to the displaced families.
