Manaoag receives ₱15-million farm road and rice subsidy for vulnerable residents.

As per PNA, the municipality of Manaoag, Pangasinan will soon build a ₱15-million farm-to-market road funded through the national government’s Local Government Support Fund (LGSF). The infrastructure project aims to improve agricultural transport and community access by connecting Barangay Sapang and Barangay Pugaro.

During a public forum, Manaoag Mayor Jeremy Agerico Rosario confirmed that the municipal government requested the road to directly benefit local farmers. The local government is currently awaiting final advice from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) before initiating the public bidding process.

“It is in Barangay Pugaro, which is a big community in our town. The road would connect barangays Sapang and Pugaro,” Rosario said, adding that “LGSF empowers the LGUs to implement projects based on their needs.”

Alongside the infrastructure funding, the LGSF framework has enabled direct food aid for vulnerable groups in the municipality. A total of 1,286 beneficiaries have received initial allocations, with each receiving 10 kilograms of rice every two months, distributed six times throughout the year.

The program supports specific local vulnerable groups, including:

Senior citizens and persons with disabilities
Parking assistants operating near public centers
Candle sellers around the Minor Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary of Manaoag

“This is a very good program,” Rosario said, noting that it strengthens food security for low-income families while offering public tracking of project development through an online portal.
