Relief Goods Distributed to Families Affected by Monsoon Floods

Local disaster response teams in Luna, La Union delivered emergency relief supplies on August 9, 2026, to families affected by heavy flooding caused by the Southwest Monsoon, the PIA reports.

Under the direction of Mayor Gary Pinzon, municipal social welfare officers and emergency responders brought food packs directly to displaced residents across affected communities and temporary evacuation centers. The emergency response effort was conducted with direct assistance from the Provincial Government of La Union and the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO).

The relief distribution provided critical supplies to flooded neighborhoods, including:

• 200 Agkaysa food packs provided jointly by the provincial government and PDRRMO
• 50 PAGCOR food packs from the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation
• 15 six-liter containers of clean drinking water

Local officials handed out a portion of these supplies directly to displaced families while retaining remaining stocks at municipal storage sites to prepare for potential secondary needs.

Response teams are actively listing affected households in every neighborhood to evaluate specific needs, focusing on families whose homes suffered structural damage or whose daily livelihoods were disrupted by floodwaters. Municipal staff involved in the operations received explicit instructions to log all aid distributions and track assistance to ensure every affected family receives help.

Field assessment teams remain stationed across affected barangays in Luna as the local government monitors local weather conditions and continues flood recovery efforts.
